![]() 800 science, 60 logs, 60 planks, and 50 metal is still pretty pricey, but at least within the realm of reason. ![]() Spending 3200 science, 120 logs, 120 planks, and 100 metal cubes to cross a 12 width gap is frankly absurd. They should probably also be easier to research, with the 1-width being unlocked from the start, and the cost of the others being reduced dramatically, probably to about 1/4 what they cost now. The cost of suspension bridges should be reduced by at least half, in my opinion. Oh, and of course platforms also enjoy being much cheaper to research. This is all in addition to platform bridges being more flexible, being able to turn, branch, raise, lower, and so on as needed. If the canyon is shallower, that cost only keeps going down. This means that, if you have a canyon 6 tiles deep (which is already an exceptionally deep canyon for this game), it's actually cheaper to cross that gap with triple platforms since you need to turn less logs into planks (same amount of wood overall). In comparison, two triple platforms cost a total of 12 logs and 8 planks. ![]() And if the gap is over 12 tiles wide, you simply can't use a suspension bridge at all. If the gap is 8 tiles wide, you also need increasing amounts of refined metal as well. They also must cross in a straight line, require both sides of the gap to be the exact same height, need extra space around each end to fit the road connection. Suspension bridges cost 10 logs and 10 planks per distance covered to build.
